2015 is over so, once again, it’s time to go over the movies I’m anticipating the most for the new year. So, once again, I decided to give you all the 20 movies (or technically 22 movies) that I’m looking forward to. Expect to see some movies that the universe is anticipating and maybe some that the universe probably wishes wouldn’t even get made. Also, I decided to, ONCE AGAIN, break down this list into two parts because I’m trying to be like my boy Ryan Seacrest when he’s about to announce who’s getting kicked off American Idol (a show that is FINALLY ending) and give the tease factor. Or I’m just making one post into two but whatever. So, ONCE AGAIN, you’re getting the 10 now and then the other 10 later. After you take a look at the list, comment below with the movies you’re looking forward to for 2016.
Honorable Mentions:
Now You See Me 2
Release Date: June 10, 2016
The Jungle Book (2016)
Release Date: April 15, 2016
Alright, now on to part one of the countdown…
20. The Girl on the Train (2016)
Release Date: October 7, 2016
A movie with Emily Blunt AND Rebecca Ferguson? Sign me up please. Plus Blunt said her role in this movie is “The most challenging thing I’ve ever done.” Yeah, sounds amazing.
19. Ghostbusters (2016)
Release Date: July 15, 2016
I’m not a fan of the original franchise just because I just never decided to actually sit down and watch them all the way through; No reason for it, just haven’t. But I do like to see what rebooted/revived franchise’s do in this day in age. Also, the cast seems like they will combine to make a very funny movie. Plus Melissa McCarthy and Paul Feig haven’t made a wack movie together yet so hopefully the trend continues.
18. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them
Release Date: November 18, 2016
I never expected to enjoy the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise as much as I did, especially since I could care less about reading those yellow pages size books. So even though this movie doesn’t scream super interesting to me, I’m going to hope that it ends up having the same effect that the franchise that gave birth to it did on me.
Release Date: July 22, 2016
The last two ‘Star Trek’ made me a fan of the property which is something I couldn’t say before those movies. Now I’m not saying I’m going to go back and watch any of the old shows and movies but I won’t walk around and disrespect the property anymore. With this latest sequel, the series looks like it is still moving in the right direction and I’m looking forward to seeing how Simon Pegg taking over writing duties will change the series. The new vibe was obvious when the first trailer dropped.
16. Top Secret Untitled Lonely Island Movie
Release Date: June 3, 2016
The guys that form The Lonely Island have created funny music, digital shorts, and movies in the past. Now they are teaming up with comedy kingpin Judd Apatow for this new flick and I’m very interested in seeing how hilarious this collaboration turns out to be.
Release Date: February 26, 2016
This movie has that ‘It Follows’ feeling. It just seems like it’ll be the years unique horror film that breathes fresh air into the genre.I really hope that turns out to be true but we all know how bad interesting looking “scary” movies can turn out to be. Fingers crossed.
14. Sausage Party
Release Date: August 12, 2016
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg know how to write hilarious movies but now their doing a R rated animated movie with many of their friends/frequent collaborators coming along for the ride. Yeah, I can guarantee this will be VERY funny.
13. The Divergent Series: Allegiant
Release Date: March 18, 2016
Now I know people aren’t the biggest fans of this series, in terms of the movies, but I don’t care, I am. I was surprised that I actually enjoyed ‘Divergent’ and then I was even more surprised I enjoyed ‘Insurgent’ even more because it’s all over the place trailers scared me. But the movie turned out to very good in my eyes so I’m looking forward to seeing if the series can keep getting more enjoyable for ME.
12. La La Land
Release Date: July 15, 2016
The lovely Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling teaming up for another movie? Yes please! And it’s a musical? Yes please! AND this is Damien Chazelle‘s first movie since ‘Whiplash’? Yes please!
Release Date: December 21, 2016
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt coming together for a movie? Yes please! With an interesting romance, sci-fi concept? Yes please! And it comes out around Christmas time? Yes please!
The untitled Lonely Island movie sounds like a right laugh, let’s hope it’s not a let down
Man I sure hope its not, I sure hope not
