My 2018 Complete Movie List: #121 – #111

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Alright, since that is over with we can move on….Since 2018 has now come and gone, I must (yes must), once again, give out the complete list of movies that I saw from the past year and rank them from worst to first. I’ve seen 121 of the movies that were released in 2018 as I write this (I new career high for me!…I’ll wait for your applause…) so I will post the list in pieces over the next several, SEVERAL days. Below you’ll see #121 – #111 a.k.a. THE BOTTOM 11 MOVIES OF 2018.

121. Suspiria

120. Slender Man

Smh…for my thoughts on this terrible movie, listen to Leo B. Gyllenhaal Podcast – Worst Movies of 2018 (Episode 118)

119. Fifty Shades Freed

  • Christian (Jamie Dornan) had no beard one night. The next day he had a beard. Just curious in knowing if his overnight beard growing power is that strong
  • There was an out of place fast chase scene with Anna (Dakota Johnson) driving
  • The security for everyone in this were terrible. How’d they get hired?
  • Jack (Eric Johnson) was a trash villain who kept getting subdued way too easily
  • The scene that reflected on the entire series with flashbacks was out of order and not necessary for someone like me who doesn’t care to reflect on six hours of my life that were a complete visual struggle
    • It also seemed like the person, or people, who edited that scene together didn’t care much about it either
  • This isn’t the worse script of the ‘Fifty Shades’ series but it was still dull
  • The performances were also expectedly bad but I’m immune to that by now
  • The movie kept trying to scratch the surface on a specific story and actual tension but then said, “Nevermind. Let’s just show more sex scenes and this absurdly boring newlywed couple interact.”
  • Some people in my theater had the audacity, the unmitigated GALL (*Stephen A. Smith voice) to applaud this garbage when it went off and I don’t know if they were joking or not

To Sum it Up: I know y’all don’t expect me to say this is anywhere near being good? Thank goodness this series is over

118. Second Act

Smh…for my thoughts on this terrible movie, listen to Leo B. Gyllenhaal Podcast – Worst Movies of 2018 (Episode 118)

117. Breaking In

Smh…for my thoughts on this terrible movie, listen to Leo B. Gyllenhaal Podcast – Worst Movies of 2018 (Episode 118)

116. Annihilation

  • The score wasn’t all dark and brooding like I would have expected but then I thought back to what Alex Garland, the director, did with some of the music selection in ‘Ex Machina’ and became no longer surprised
  • Random thought: Before that group of smart women, a.k.a. the leading ladies, went into the Shimmer, were they taught how to use those big guns they were holding?
    • I don’t know why, that question just popped into my head when I saw it
  • A scene with Lena (Natalie Portman) at the end plays like an interpretive dance number. Like something you would see out of an artsy performance or something
  • I don’t get this movie at all. I mean, I have a slight idea of what it might be trying to say but not really
  • I love Portman but she’s been losing me with her last couple movies
  • To Sum it Up: This movie is too weird for even any of my likings (and I usually dig those “out there” type of movies). Maybe if I research it, my opinion MIGHT change….(*goes to research it)….nope, it’s still the same

115. The Possession of Hannah Grace

Smh…for my thoughts on this terrible movie, listen to Leo B. Gyllenhaal Podcast – Worst Movies of 2018 (Episode 118)

114. Isle of Dogs

113. Roxanne Roxanne

  • Soooo…my boy Mahershala Ali is playing a pedophile in this huh…
  • This movie is moving at hyper speed
    • The pacing is so crazy fast that I can’t believe it
    • It doesn’t stay on any scene for too long
  • The plot is moving but I can’t tell exactly how because the explanation and pacing is so crazy
  • The music portion of Roxanne Shante’s (Chanté Adams) life is put so far in the background and made to seem unimportant
    • When she does get poppin’ in the music world, the movie gets there abruptly, barely explains how it happened and then quickly moves away from it
  • Few people know about her music career so I feel that part of Shante’s life should have been touched on more
  • To Sum it Up: The lightening pace of the plot and lack of music focus makes this biopic irritating

112. Winchester

111. Super Troopers 2
