Alright, I’m back with the TOP 10 movies I’m anticipating the most for 2019. You’ll see some obvious choices and you might see some not so obvious choices. But you’ll never know unless you read on. So go ahead and read on because you know you want to.
10. John Wick: Chapter 3
Release Date: May 17, 2019
Once this SHOOTS its way into theaters, I have a good feeling that it’s going to place itself in the conversation for best action movie of the year. ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ easily did that when it dropped early in 2017.
Release Date: February 8, 2019
Everything about this movie better be awesome! I don’t expect it to be as good as its predecessor because that one is a classic that never gets old. But it just better be awesome!
8. Star Wars: Episode IX
Release Date: December 20, 2019
I surprised myself that I put it this low but hey, don’t get me wrong; I can’t wait to see how this trilogy ends. And all my fellow members of the Daisy Ridley hive STAND-UP! But I think I’m starting to get some ‘Star Wars’ fatigue, especially since ‘The Last Jedi’ was great and disappointing at the same time and ‘Solo’ was good and a letdown at the same time.
Release Date: October 11, 2019
Any movie with Emma Stone in it is a must see. Also, ‘Zombieland’ was a great movie with a great cast so all that combined makes this long awaited sequel something I can’t wait to see…even if the zombie movie genre is dying.
Release Date: October 4, 2019
DC can’t figure out how to get their shared universe right so they’re going to try putting movies out outside of that with interesting characters that don’t have to follow what other movies do. And they decide to start with the Joker. Giving this wild character a solo origin movie with the filmmakers having the freedom to do what they want with it is super interesting to me. The synopsis hints at creative liberties being taken, Joaquin Phoenix was cast as the titular villain, Todd Phillips is directing, the whole cast is sharp and photos from the set give off a grounded vibe. Yeah, I have high hopes for this one. DC don’t let me down.
Release Date: July 5, 2019
4. Captain Marvel
Release Date: March 8, 2019
Finally we get a woman superhero led movie from Marvel and it so happens to be about probably the most powerful hero in that Avengers ensemble. What makes it even more anticipated is how it will set up ‘Avengers: Endgame’ because we know Captain Marvel has a important role in that.
Release Date: June 21, 2019
I feel strongly that ‘Toy Story 3’ should have been the end of that franchise because the ending was PERRRRRRRFCT! But since y’all decided to give me another one all these years later, I NEED to see what story-line is sooooo good that y’all decided to make this.
2. Once Upon a Time In Hollywood
Release Date: July 26, 2019
Whenever Quentin Tarantino drops a movie, it feels like an event because he’s a phenomenal filmmaker so that’s one. Two, whenever Leonardo DiCaprio decides to grace us with a movie, it feels like an event to ME. Three, the last time those two gentlemen teamed up, they gave us ‘Django Unchained’ which is one of my favorite movies of all-time. Four, the cast is ginormous and rich with talent. And five, Charles Manson’s shenanigans is the backdrop of the movie. LET’S GO! I’m ready for this.
Release Date: April 26, 2019
I’m not explaining myself. This is self-explanatory. I wise man by the name of Terrence Thornton a.k.a. Pusha T once said, “If you know you know.” Just be there when this event takes place.
