‘Red Sparrow’ Bullet Point Review

Using bullet points, I’m going to give you my thoughts on a movie I wouldn’t care much about if Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t in it….‘Red Sparrow’!

  • Started off looking like a sequel to ‘Black Swan’ called ‘Black Swan 2: The Red Swan’
    • No need to tell me how clever that was, I already know
  • The uncle-niece relationship between Dominika (Lawrence) and Ivan (Matthias Schoenaerts) is a little perverted
  • Since there wasn’t any action to enjoy in this spy thriller, I enjoyed the brutal violent moments we did get
  • The twist at the end was needed and a good addition to this movie that started to drag in the middle
    • Once Dominika left “Sparrow” training, the movie began to descend down a slow and sluggish path
  • I didn’t hear Lawrence’s accent come and go so just for that, she did a great job
  • We don’t see these type of spy thrillers much nowadays so maybe that’s why I found it to be a yawner at moments
  • The thrilling nature mixed with the darker elements, made me intrigued by what was going to happen next
  • To Sum it Up: This is a movie that suffered from being too long. Scrap some time off the clock and fine tune some other stuff here and there and you could have a great movie
