Alright, I’m back with the top 10 movies I’m anticipating the most for 2017. You’ll see some obvious choices and you might see some not so obvious choices. But you’ll never know unless you read on. So go ahead and read on because you know you want to.
Also, listen to Leo B. Gyllenhaal Podcast – Anticipated 2017 Movies (Episode 35) to hear more about the movies I’m anticipating for 2017!
10. Thor: Ragnarok
Release Date: November 3, 2017
Even though I don’t like how the tone of this movie has switched during the production process (the tone of the two different title logo’s makes it so evident there has been a big shift), it’s still a MCU movie and it supposedly has a big effect on the trend setting cinematic universe so I can’t wait to see it.
Release Date: October 20, 2017
I feel that this franchise doesn’t need anymore movies (especially since the quality dropped with the 3rd entry) but if they’re going to put it out and Leigh Whannell wrote it then I’m there for it.
8. Kingsman: The Golden Circle
Release Date: October 6, 2017
This is the first time Matthew Vaughn will be directing a sequel to one of his movies so that’s something to look forward to. That said movie was also great because of its mixture of humor, action and violence. I like to think of it as a funnier, less uptight version of James Bond. So a sequel is definitely welcomed. Here’s to hoping we get a scene that’s on the level of thee church scene from the first one.
Release Date: April 14, 2017
The ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise has just gotten crazier ever since the 4th movie in the franchise and I love it! So of course I’m geeked for the EIGHTH movie. Plus Vin Diesel is a bad guy this time around and there’s a submarine car chase going on in Iceland? Yeah I can’t wait!
6. Justice League
Release Date: November 17, 2017
After ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘Suicide Squad’, my anticipation for this movie has definitely dropped somewhat but I hope DC can really get back right (because I really liked ‘Man of Steel’) with this one because this should be a great movie. But my expectations have lowered so I probably won’t be super disappointed if its a letdown (unlike how I reacted to ‘Dawn of Justice’).
Release Date: February 10, 2017
I love ‘The Lego Movie’ and Batman stole every scene he was in so that instantly meant I was interested in this movie. Then I saw the great cast of voices that was assembled and the hilarious trailers and from there my interest intensified.
4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Release Date: May 5, 2017
I’ve watched the first trailer for this movie probably more than any other trailer I’ve watched before and I still find it as funny as I did the first time. So yeah I guess you can say I’m kinda anticipating this movie somewhat.
Release Date: October 27, 2017
The whole ‘Saw’ franchise is my favorite movie series/franchise (or whatever you want to call it) of all-time, flaws and all, so I want it treated with respect. Which means I don’t want to see it brought back, rebooted or whatever for a looooooooooong time. It was already running on it’s last legs its last few movies and it’s never going to have James Wan and Whannell back running the show again so I prefer it not be brought back now because I can picture it making my heart feel very sad. But if it actually does come out, I MUST see how it turns out.
2. Spider-Man: Homecoming
Release Date: July 7, 2017
I nerded out like a lot of people did when the deal was announced that Sony and Marvel studios would share the rights to Spider-Man. So now that the finished product in almost here, I can’t wait to see it; Especially since Tom Holland seems like he’ll be a great Peter Parker based off the little time we spent with him in ‘Captain America: Civil War’. I would use this time to vent about how Sony basically killed off Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy for no reason since we didn’t get to see how her death affected the never-will-be-made ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 3’..but I won’t.
Release Date: December 15, 2017
This is a generic selection but it is what it is. I fell back in love with the franchise thanks to Episode VII and found a new uh…”person of interest” in Daisy Ridley. So I can’t wait to see where this next installment in the galaxy far far away goes and just to see Ridley on the big screen again.
Alright, there you go. My top 20 list of movies I’m anticipating the most for 2017 is complete. Sorry for all the sequels/reboots/remakes or whatever. I anticipate what I anticipate. Plus they’re also the movies I know most about. The more low-key/indie flicks, I’ll probably want to see more, will come to my attention as the year goes on. But if you missed Part 1 of the list then click right here. Now please comment below on what movies your anticipating the most this year or just if you want to complain about my list. Whatever you’re in the mood for.
