Have you ever heard of Pietro “Quicksilver” Maximoff? Well if you haven’t then you will become more familiar with him over the next two years. Quicksilver is a Marvel character and the son of Magneto (You know who he is right? The guy from the X-Men movies? Ok cool). He also has a twin sister named Wanda “The Scarlet Witch” Maximoff.
Two big movies from the Marvel comic world will be coming out in the next two years and will feature the character of Quicksilver. The first being ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ coming May 23rd, 2014 and the second being ‘The Avengers: Age of Altron’ which will hit theaters on May 1st, 2015. The latter movie just officially announced that Aaron Taylor-Johnson (the star of a great little film called ‘Kick-Ass’) will play the role in the film while Evan Peters was announced as the choice to play Quicksilver in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ a while ago.
Each movie’s take on the role will be interesting because since each film is under a different company (‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is under Twentieth Century Fox and ‘The Avengers: Age of Altron’ is under Marvel Studios). Both films have restrictions on how they can portray the character. For ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, they can’t talk about Quicksilver’s relation to the Avengers. And for ‘The Avengers: Age of Altron’, their can’t be any mention of his mutant or Magneto relations.
I’m more eager to see Taylor-Johnson’s portrayal because a) I feel his role will be bigger then Peter’s version b) I’m a fan of his thanks to the Kick-Ass movies and c) His version will be in THE AVENGERS SEQUEL DUH! But anyways, having two versions of this not-so-popular character to the casual Marvel fan will be interesting see play out. Especially with it happening in two big blockbusters.
